The Micros Episode 4

YAY Episode 4 has finally been released! This is the second episode I have worked on doing animation, compositing, photo-shopping, textures, and whatever else they need. I love how a whole team comes together to create a show and it's always so fun to see what the other guys on the team do with sound, animation, vfx, and we have a new title's man! Love it!

Also, Happy April Fools' from the Micros, as we Rick-Roll you into a FRICKE--Roll! (I don't know if that makes sense but I only just learned what all this meant)

I did a good portion of the animation on this, though the best parts had to be cut to spare *feelings* of certain individuals, but that is animation for ya! So fun.
♫ Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down ♫ I am now obsessed with the song.

A misst ye sae muckle!

Hou's aw wi ye? (proper Scottish greeting, of course! lol)

My sister and brother in law just returned from their week long adventure in the UK and Scotland and now I get to post the best part... the GIFTS!

While some people (ahem, GINA!) yearn for Kate and William memorabilia, I wanted NOMS!

For those who don't know, my mother was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and my lineage goes back to the MacLeod clan, so I get very excited about Scottish things in general.... plus I spent a year living in Leeds, UK during study abroad in college so I had many a memory flash back during the recounting of their adventure.
The black and yellow is my clan's Tartan. (like hufflepuff!?)

This afternoon I will be in bliss having tea with all these goodies, of them all battenburg cake being my fav!

*A misst ye sae muckle! means I missed you so much in olde tyme Scottish*

Guid cheerio the nou!!!!

Doggies! Arwyn and Roxy

My sister and brother in law are off to the mother-land of London and Edinburgh this week so I'm here in their home watching their puppies (I mean I'm here in their home anyway, because these two saints [not the dogs] have been taking exquisite care of me). What an experience! I feel so bad sitting at my desk all day knowing that they just have to sit there and wait for me to go outside and play or be active at all... and given my 'situation' they don't get too much activity. They sure can teach you a lot about patience and unconditional love! and Poop!

Saw this youtube shared by my friend Erick Oh and could relate so much.

I survived the Mint Room

For Chrissy's 20th birthday she came out to Denver and we enjoyed a tour of the Celestial Seasoning's Factory here in Colorado on March 13. The mint room is simply TO DIE FOR. mmmmm tea.

Tea time is the perfect time, every time.

I love the commissioned tea-box paintings, they are always so colorful and happy! Maybe one day I'll paint a tea-box cover! It would have to be for like sparkle rainbow tea.

epic fail isn't so bad i suppoze

Been having a rough few days feeling like my throat is trying to jump out of itself, and every time I have a little setback like this it makes me feel like a big ol failure of life. Thanksfullyyy for the internetz, the Epic Fail Blog (where i went to find fellow failures) has cured my blues and made me feel like one of the top 1% of smarties in the world.

Also reading Viktor Frankl's "Mans Search for Meaning", and tho while the stories reiterated about his experience in Nazi concentration camps should be dark and twisty and make me feel even more like a failure at life, he does such a beautiful job of pointing out the strength and beauty of subtle moments of our free will and re-iterates how freeing letting go of trying to control fate can be. I've been putting this book off since I got my reading list in August because wwII stories are so so difficult for me to read, but this is actually so very enjoyable and light hearted even in the darkest moments. It helps me to realize this tough journey I'm going through has meaning and purpose, and I always have free will to choose how to respond to it.

In my off-work hours I've been trying to do more drawing and studying up on story and film and animation and stuff, but it's been too much for me, as you can see, I look like Flu Kitty now. I'm too anxious to get back to LA and start my "real life" but taking Frankl's advice I know I can let go of the reigns of fate for now and concentrate on my original goal (to have stellar vibrant health so that this summer I can go rock climbing or something), and I have the rest of my life to do what I was always meant to do, whatever that is. I'm letting go of the idea that I think that I know what that is.

So my creative pushing has been an epic fail. I even tried to draw for St. Patty's day but the result was so atrocious I'm not even going to post. Maybe easter's will be better.

I realize that whenever i really try to make something it doesn't work. My best artwork has come when it just flows out of my hand without me even really thinking about it. I know it's important to set time aside for the little monster Creativity to invade your brain, but I know I just am not meant to do that right now. I have a good job working with tools I love, 4 hours a day, and the rest of the time I just have to stay in my little healing cocoon until I'm climbing mountains. Or at least not looking like flu kitty anymore.

Mother F***ing Micros!

*note the "Lead Animator"* woohoo! I have a title!
This is what I've been working on for the last few days. Boy that animation adrenaline really sticks! It is a really interesting and fun and such a great learning experience working on The Micros.

Looking forward to what I get to prove to myself what I can do next!

Oh yeah, and congrats to Erik Seidel for winning all those dollaz after appearing on the Micros in December. Lets hope lady luck sticks around for as long as she can.

Next... I better learn how to play poker. Will my knowledge of the Tarot help? =P

Baby, you were BORN this way!

Today, March 7, 2011, I became an auntie! My lovely sister Vanessa and her husband Danny have welcomed baby Emma Madison into the world today in Kentucky. I cannot wait to see her and am just bubbling over with excitement and joy! I will be spoiling her as much as I am allowed to.

Lights, Camera, ACTION!

Went on a journey outside these four walls last week to the mall and was inspired by all I saw .... restoration hardware has some great themes in right now, especially for lighting. I fell in love.

TV Easel? I HAVE to have it!!!! I am so in love....

(Just spotted: Target has a similar look for this table lamp tripod for $39, vs. the $500 restoration hardware version)

And this wall-art from Z Gallerie made me really miss home <3

Never thought I'd be blogging about home decor, but when something grabs you, you just gatta do it! Ok Universe, make it happen. <3

baby baby!

Pretty soon now I'll be an auntie and I am so excited. What color will her hair be? Her eyes? What will she want to be when she grows up? So many things I want to know.

Drawing inspired by the style of Pixar artist and illustrator, Sanjay Patel. What an artist!

Loved

With the filmmaker's blessing, I have decided to post the lovely video Jeff made me as a going-away present as I moved from California to Colorado. I got this on Sunday, and that paired with the Oscars and talking with my Natalie, it made me really miss California. It inspires me to be as healthy as possible so that I can continue to fulfill my dreams. Thanks Jeff, for producing this window for my tower.

I love you, animators and friends!

Animated Painting

Claire Keane is one of my new heros, and I love the intro she did for the Tangled game for the Wii. Here it is:

And also one of my fav scenes from Tangled:

keeeep going!

A busy day today finally feeling a lil energy after a rough couple of days. Started off the morning photo-shopping for my boss' birthday, and then sealed the workday working on some sketches from Tangled. I originally started a concept for valentine's day but figured I needed some work with the characters first. As long as I do it eventually, right? Just trying to keep it up as I can despite my deeep dark fears of never getting it right (but what's the point of that?!).
Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, John! Enjoy the Micros Here!
